But often you would lose only a few pounds more than you would by just eating healthy and exercising regularly.

Fit it into your schedule, even if you can do only 30 minutes at least three times a week. Don’t fall into the advertising ploys that tell you that your fat is going to melt off in weeks. If you’re trying to lose a lot of weight, it’s going to take a long time. A healthy weight loss is a half pound to 2 pounds a week. And if you lose weight healthily, you are much more likely to keep all the weight off. More than 90 percent of those who go on fad diets gain all of their weight back — sometimes more — within two years after dieting.

If you can’t give up all sweets, don’t set that as your goal. Start small with a goal that you know you can accomplish, and start with a short time span in which you have to accomplish the goal.

An example of this may be to do a cardio workout for 30 minutes, three days a week, for one month. Make it your goal to get three servings of vegetables every day, or make it your goal to drink more water.
