Brown Fat
Use the word ‘fat’ in any conversation with a woman… yes, the mere mention of good fat (where the word ‘fat’ is used as a noun as opposed to its common usage in the adjective form) such as brown fat and you’ll find the conversation taking an ugly, self-deprecating turn consisting of phrases such as: I’m fat… I need to exercise… I need to go on a diet… I need to eat less… I’m a vegetarian… and so on and so forth.
And while I sit there pretending to listen, I wonder while trying very hard (and I mean, very) to pay attention and be sensitive: F***, why me?

Swine Flu
noreply@blogger.com (Weight Master) says: Everyone else is writing on it, so…
As the swine flu spreads across the United States, most cases are mild — federal health officials said Monday that they’re focusing now on trying to project what is likely to occur with the virus in the fall.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is conducting field studies to “strengthen our knowledge about how this new virus is spreading, who is most at risk for illness, how effective prevention measures are, antiviral treatment and so forth,” Dr. Anne Schuchat, the CDC’s interim deputy director for science and public health program, said during an afternoon teleconference.
That’s about all I have to say about the Swine Flu. Good l
What Happened to Organic Raw Almonds?
FitBuff Blogger says:
Organic Raw Almonds
Salmonella, everyone's favorite dessert, was linked to organic raw almonds in an unconventional and isolated incident, but it caused the California Almond Board to pass a ruling that requires all manufactured raw almonds to be pasteurized before hitting the supermarkets.
But in looking back to those 2 years ago, I’m sure we’d all posthumously agree: The jury’s out on this one. The ruling is just bizarre (for lack of a better word) and rather reflective of George Bush’ term at the White House (sorry, couldn’t help but take a dig) with the almond growers (who’ve undergone serious losses) and the customers (who have to look for outside sources for raw almonds)

Burn Off The Weekend’s Alco-frolics With A Four Mile Run
Tristan says:
I went out for a few beers over the weekend, actually, it was Cider but what the hell! I was still very drunk by the time the pub chucked us out in the early hours of Sunday morning. The following day, when I woke up I did have a bit of a hangover, if I’m honest, it was the sort of hangover that could have killed a baby elephant! To combat this hangover, I drank lots of water, had a protein shake and some fruit and watched the Grand Prix, which I’m loving this season, it’s so great to see Jenson Button doing well this year after having been in the doldrums for so many seasons. What’s even better is seeing the smirk wiped off Lewis Hamilton’s face, and watching h

Interval training is great!
Dan says:
I’ve also been doing some interval training lately after reading up on how effective it is at burning fat and raising cardiovascular fitness. I’ll write about my findings in more detail soon but they generally tally with Tristan’s research. I’m looking forward to his imminent free E-Book!
I copied Tristan’s recent sprint training yesterday and it is TOUGH! I have been doing interval training in the gym on treadmills and cross trainers and as hard as these can be you can’t quite go flat out as they take time to speed up and so the intense periods last around 30-45 seconds. Still very good but a slightly different version of interval training (variety is good
Obesity
noreply@blogger.com (Weight Master) says: I read this article online and thought it was interesting. As I read this, I found that there were many things that I just didn’t know about obesity. I thought that I would put some facts from the article on here. The following information was not written by me. I did copy and paste it, but I forgot to get the url:
1. Child-safety seat manufacturers are starting to make bigger models after a recent study showed that over 250,000 U.S. children age 6 and under are too fat to use them.
2. According to a study by the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale University, nearly half the 4,000 people responding to an online survey about obesity said they would give up a year of their life rath
